What is hosting? - Once we create a web site for you, it has to go live on a computer somewhere so others can see it. That computer is called a "server", and it is connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When we put your site on our server, our server is "hosting" your site.

What are the advantages of hosting with COL?

  • Our server allows for CGI processing, which means we can provide support for programs which process forms feedback and many other functions. 

  • You do not have to register your web address (your domain name) when hosting at our site. Your reserved web address will be "www.cyprus-online.com/[your company name]" as long as your company name is unique within our service. By using this address, you will save yourself the initial and the annual registration fee for domain names.

  • The monthly cost of hosting your site is based on how many pages we create for your site, so you don't pay for more than you need, plus there is no initial setup fee.

  • Our prices: For Hosting, Maintenance & Marketing are £10 / MB – Our hosting also comes with the added benefit of ongoing maintenance & marketing for your site. Web sites need to be changed and updated periodically to keep them fresh and need to be reregistered to search engines & directories to keep them updated.

But what if I want my own domain name? - We can help you there, too. We'll contact InterNic, the folks that control domain names on the Internet, and verify that your name is available. Then we'll apply for the name and set up your new site on an external hosting service of your choice. InterNic will bill you separately for your new domain name, and charges $70.00 for the first 2 years, then $35.00 per year after that.
